Description
Marvell Consulting are working with a government client to deliver a
digital transformation project, building a robust statistical data
platform. This platform will provide policymakers, researchers, and
citizens with reliable, user-focused data insights.
We’re looking for an experienced Data Architect/Data Engineer to
deliver scalable, efficient solutions that align with modern data
standards and principles.
Summary
Duration: 3-6 months, full-time
Location: Remote with occasional hybrid
Type: Outside-IR35
Day rate: Competitive
Clearance: SC must be attainable
Key responsibilities
- Architect and implement OLAP data cubes for complex analytics on large datasets
- Develop an ETL strategy migrating incumbent data to the new service
- Develop data pipelines using PostgreSQL, Node.js, and Python
- Design and optimize workflows for high-performance data processing
- Deliver within an agile environment, ensuring alignment with GDS standards
Essential experience
- Expertise in OLAP data cubes, with a strong understanding of their design, implementation, and use for analytics
- Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), including advanced query writing
- Expertise in MDX (Multidimensional Expressions) for multidimensional database querying and analysis
- Solid backend development experience using Python and Node.js for data and API integration
- Proven ability to migrate or integrate data from MS SQL Server into modern pipelines or architectures
- Familiarity with Azure data services, including Data Factory, Azure SQL, and related tools for cloud-based data processing
- Familiarity with DuckDB or similar OLAP databases (knowledge of their role in modern pipelines is sufficient)
- Proven track record delivering data solutions in GDS-style environments with public-facing outcomes
- Experience working within an agile delivery framework, contributing to sprints and iterative development
- Prior experience supporting statistical or public-sector platforms is highly desirable
- Knowledge of CDPS principles and methodologies is a bonus
